Recommended hardware and system requirements
We provide our suggestions about what constitutes a 'good' platform for running our software, and information about the versions of Windows on which we test the software and for which we are therefore able to offer formal support.
Easy-PC is a 32-bit Windows application, and is only supported on the 'current' desktop (not Server) versions of Windows (both 32- and 64-bit) as indicated in the table below.
It is not officially supported on Windows 'emulators' or other 'hosted' systems such as can be used to run Windows applications on Mac or Linux. Our software may work on these systems once the appropriate configuration settings have been applied, but we do not test the software on such platforms and cannot offer advice, guidance or support on using them.
Our support for each Windows version continues for a period of approximately two years after Microsoft cease mainstream support for that version, as shown below. We no longer directly support Easy-PC on earlier versions of Windows, although you may still find that the application operates perfectly well on those versions.
|Windows Version||Easy-PC supported until at least|
|Windows 10 **||June 2025|
|Windows 11 **||June 2026|
** Note that recent version of Windows (10 onwards) are on a kind of 'rolling update' program which means that versions and end dates are less easy to track than with previous editions of Windows. Microsoft's own statement is that Windows Pro and Home editions are "serviced for 18 months from release date, however based on your setting, the latest feature update may be automatically installed on your device upon availability". We will roll our support dates forward as these Windows editions continue to evolve.
We recommend that you use at least the minimum hardware specified for the version of Windows you are going to run. If it can run Windows and a few applications without struggling, then it should suffice for all but the most complex of Easy-PC designs.
We don't stipulate an absolute minimum hardware specification, partly because there are so many different varieties and combinations of computer available. The only solid restriction is that some of the more complex dialogs within the application are quite large and will thus require at least the graphics resolution shown below to allow them to fit on the screen.
|Processor||1GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) or equivalent †|
|Memory||At least 4Gb§|
|Disk space||1Gb for installation and reasonable selection of data|
|Graphics||At least 1024x768 resolution ◊|
† Easy-PC does not currently make use of multiple cores or processors.
§ follow Microsoft memory recommendations for your version of Windows.
◊ for 3D View, hardware acceleration for Open-GL may enhance performance.
