I like to use EPC to handle all aspects of my project including mechanical and packaging etc.

To do this I've created a "Misc" component that allows me to store the relevant data in value fields.

For projects that only have a single schematic sheet, this works well as I can generate reports from the schematic page, but when there are multiple sheets, the only place it all comes together is on the PCB.

But the Misc components do not transfer to the PCB file. I assume this is because there is just a box on the documentation layer but no pads or nets.

Can anyone suggest a workaround?

Mike,

the absence of pads on the component should not prevent it from transferring to PCB. We used to do that but the restriction was removed in V16.

The only other reason I can think of for not transferring your documentation component to PCB is that the component is Schematic-only. That is, it has a Schematic symbol assigned to the Component, but no Package and hence no PCB symbol. If so, you should be able to overcome this by adding a package in the component editor. You would have to create a PCB symbol equivalent of your existing Schematic symbol as they are treated differently and cannot be 'shared', otherwise it should be straightforward.

David.

Thanks for the reply, David.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, then. This is what my component looks like:

In this particular project, I have 11 instances in my schematic, but none show up in the PCB.

Mike,

I've just been through that with my program, and was surprised to see exactly what you are getting! No documentation component in the PCB despite having it all set up as I expected. We will investigate further and see what needs to be sorted out.

Thanks to Peter and David, the problem has been resolved and will apparently be in the next update.
