V15.08
I recently purchased some of the green dry film solder resist from Mega (very impressed with it btw).
Problem...
I am trying to add text to the solder resist layer to give a silver text on the green background.
I have gone to the "Settings>DesignTechnology>Layers tab:" and created a custom solder resist layer with its own colour.
I have added the text to the layer..and it shows on the screen in its correct colour,same as all the other mask items.
but (in printing and plotting) when I print (windows) the custom solder resist layer , the pads from library items are printed but any text or shapes are not .

Ps.this maybe another aspect to the broken panel printing that v15 suffers from with windows drivers (Lexmark,Brother,Samsung,Dell so far for me).

Rob,
I am using V17 and just tried this and it seems to work ok here. I added text to top resist layer of one of my designs and then created gerbers. I checked the top resist gerber in GCPrevue and the text is there as expected.

I have just tried this in V17 and the PDF output shows my custom text (it's actually a logo from a custom font). It is also on the Gerber files. What is a little disturbing is the fact that I can't control the oversize on the pads for the mask Gerber plot. If I select "Pads Only" plot to be able to change the relative size of the pads the text is lost from the Gerber file. If I leave "Pads Only" unchecked, the text appears on the Gerber file output, but I am left with pads which are the default oversize.
It appears to work OK, but the lack of control over the pad size is a bit disconcerting.

You want to use resist layers and not the default resist output. Mich better as this is wysiwyg within the pcb editor.

I created a custom resist layer which contains the logo and the pads as expected, but couldn't see how to change the pad oversize. However, I have now found it in "Design Technology > Layer Types". Just a case of not knowing where to look!

You found it John.
You can also do this with the paste mask. Much better as you can see exactly what you are going to get on these layers. Very handy if you need to create areas of say no resist or pads that you don't what paste on etc etc.

Well...In v15.08.... It works ok for the gerber output. Any text or shapes are present.....but in windows or .pdf output (cant test pen-plot) they do not show up , same in the panel output section but it has the added fault that all pads are filled irrespective of what options are chosen.
This was a headline option for v15 , which it seems v16 and 17 still struggle with depending on whos printer you use.
This is an old design that I wanted to make another 7 boards for....so I'll just place a few stickers as I did last time.

To get unfilled pads on your PDF output, go to "Settings>Design Technology>Layer Types>Silk Screen" and click "Yes" in all the pad types you have on your board. The plot the Silk Screen layer only but combine it with the "Board Outline".
That will give you a PDF file with unfilled pads. You could cheat by combining an extra documentation layer which also has your text on it, but not include it in the Gerber output.
Don't forget to revert all the pad settings in the Design Technology file back to "No" after you have finished.
