I am using V16, and I have an array of vias that I want to copy. I can do this with the duplicate, replicate, or simply cut and paste. The most infuriating thing about this though is that the net gets incremented. I don't want a new net, I want the same net as I copied. Is there a check box that I can check or uncheck? I have looked everywhere in settings etc and can't find anything like this. Each time I paste, I have to go and change the net, this is time consuming and annoying. Any help from the forum gratefully received. Kind regards Jeff |

Make sure you give the net a name before you duplicate. Then you will get a message asking if you want the duplicate to merge with the existing net.

Hi Mike, Thanks for the reply. The net has a name, for example n0001, if I copy and paste it the pasted array gets n0002. I don't get any messages asking to duplicate or merge. Kind regards Jeff |

n0001 is an autogenerated net name, you have to give it a name of your own. Do this in the schematic and then forward design changes, or things will go horribly wrong later on! |

Array of vias with/without tracks?
A simple pad by itself has no automatically named net as there is no track associated with it. So your via must have a track associated with it.
Have you tried making an array of simple pads and then use the "Add Unrouted Connection" feature to invisibly connect them together. Then all the pads/vias with have the same net,- but no tracks connecting them.
Not really sure what you're after to be honest! |

I have tracks that have the automated net name connecting components that will require heat removing from them. Therefore I have flooded an area, again with the same automatic net name. Then I want an array of vias or pads on the flooded area to be placed and transfer the net to the opposite side of the board where there is another flooded area. So renaming the net n0001 to NET1, this does work. Still a bit of a pain if I have lots of nets. Thanks for all the help, at least I have a way forward. Kind regards Jeff |
