I have an issue since buying v18 where components have a .sch and .pcb created successfully in the library, but when used in a design, the PCB reports that it can't find some of the pins so show the connections. The schematic has all the connections made and the nets all show in both sch and pcb, but the PCB won't show the interconnect for some of the pins.
I've tried reloading old library parts from designs and also creating totally new components, but this didn't help.
I've been using Easy-PC since it was based on DOS. so am familiar with it.
Any help?

cheers,
Steve

You need 3 libraries, schematic, pcb and Components.
The latter ties in the first two.

If there is an issue where it cannot find some pins, then this sounds like a problem we may have already fixed. Please download and install the latest patch from the Updates page and see if that sorts it out. If not, then please email data and description to support@numberone.com and we will investigate further.

Thanks edrees.
As I say, I have all the components necessary to create the complete part as I have been doing all my own library parts for the last 10 years or so, but there is an issue with how the system is reading them since I installed V18.

Thanks Dave.
I think I already have the latest patch since I have it set to automatically check for updates each time I log in. I use it every day, so pretty sure it's up to date.
I'm not sure how I will Email the data the creates the part to you. I'll work on it and see what I find.

many thanks.

Steve,

There are two versions of V18.03 patches. The first released version had bugs in it and was quickly re-released (as V18.03) with those bugs fixed.
Manually download the latest version and try again.

I found recently that some of my components could not be found and I actually do not know where they went. I was not sure what happened to them but some new parts I created in my library just vanished completely.

I work on a couple of computers and share files through Dropbox so was not completely sure what the problem was but parts have gone.

Trevor, this might not be a No1 issue.

I NEVER use Dropbox "sync" file sharing (or anybody else's).
I (temporarily) lost loads of files during a "sync" session when I "tested" these services. They seem to have a mind of their own, deleting files from my hard disc, then deleting the same files from the Sync folder.

I agree, I only tend to use DropBox for 'ease of use' transfer of files.

Maybe I'm working on a file at work and want to use it at home later, I'd put a copy (not the original) into DropBox on my work machine, then copy it out at home. Just a convenience really, easier than using USB key or email.

I would never rely on it to store the only/working copy of my vital files. For backup, I use a backup tool designed for that purpose.

David.

Well I agree but how to create a common library between my laptop and my desktop machine? I would need to create a server and share files across the network. Then I would have the issue of using files over a network and having a server on all the time.

Having to pass files between two computers can also create multiple versions of the same file and quickly you can find you have lots of copies of files around.

Dropbox has been very good so far. I have found sometimes I have a conflict where two copies are created but this is the first time I have a potential issue.

I did not mention my problem before because I was not sure myself it was a fault with EasyPC. But if anyone as a good way to work across two computers with common libraries, etc that would be great. Maybe with usb sticks being so fast, I just need to sync with a usb stick and carry that around with me?

I use Sugarsync. BUT you do need to be careful. With sugarsync it updates your files immediately directly from the folder you are using ..... I.e it's not a solitary file that syncs such as with Dropbox.
Things seem to go wrong if say you update a file but due to Internet problems it doesn't update in the cloud, then you move to another machine and work on the same file that then tries to update the previously un- updated file.

I have now only allowed one-way rather than multiple way syncing to prevent problems.

As DaveM and edrees suggested, I downloaded the latest patch 18.0.3 again and reinstalled. Everything seems back to normal now with the integration of schematic and PCB layout matching as they usually do.
Thanks gents.

regards,
Steve Hills.
