You can use track hugging or bus routing to lay differential pairs even in previous versions.

Afterwards, you can determine the overall track length(s) by looking at the "Properties" of each track, and add a "joggle" to one or more tracks to achieve identical track lengths. |

You can also use the "head-up display" to show track and net lengths near the cursor while you are editing the tracks, this should help you to get close to the desired lengths.

Hi David,
I'd forgotten that "head-up display" feature (as I never use it). But what about adding the net name to this feature at the risk of adding additional clutter to the working area?

But you cannot define a differential pair on the schematic and the tracks cannot be routed simultaneously. Am I right ? |

I think that high-speed routing signal features are essential to an up to date cad system and therefore German competitors like CadSoft (Eagle) and Ing.-Büro FRIEDRICH (Target 3001) improved their products by adding those features at no cost to the customer. Will Easy-PC be extended to include high-speed signal routing features in the near future ? |

You can of course create a differential pair style that embodies the track size and of course the length differential you can accept. This takes care of checking these during a design rule check. You can include these also in any net match table in the spacings dialogue.

@Iain Wilkie: You suggestion is only a workaround. Number one wants the user to buy Pulsonix, but I would buy Eagle if I change to another CAD. Eagle is cheaper and it can be extended by the user |

Easy-PC provides a selection of rules, settings and tools to assist you in achieving routing based on lengths and constraints. For many people, these are more than adequate. It does not provide interactive side-by-side routing of two or more tracks based on those constraints. If you really need this, you would have to look to another product.
Clearly our recommendation in this case would be our 'sister' product Pulsonix, as this can read all your Easy-PC data. Pulsonix has pair definition in the schematic, interactive side-by-side routing of pairs on multiple layers in the PCB, separate gaps and spacing rules on different layers, selectable via patterns when changing layers, and a host of other features besides.
In the end you have to make your own choices about where and when you want to spend your time and money.

@hodali, Its not really a workaround, you would still need to input the parameters required for the diff pairs in ANY package. The only thing EasyPC does not support is the pair routing as a specific operation. However using track hugging or even better, bus routing, this can be easily achieved very effectively. As DavidM states, you pays your money and you take your choice. No different from other software packages whether it be accountancy, photography, etc etc, there will always be the "I wish it could ......."
