Hi,
I have used a text style to define the label for all my components in the library. Now I want to change the size of my text. Since all my components uses the same text style. Is there a way to change the component's text size instead of changing one by one?
They are using the same text style. I am thinking there must be a better way to update the style's settings instead of one component at a time.
Thank you for your help.

How do I go to Design Technology and the Text Styles tab?
When I open up the Easy-PC software, the Design Technology option is not on the file menu.

I seem to remember the exact location changed a few versions ago. Which version are you using?
In recent versions it's under the "Settings" menu.
1/ Click Settings->Design Technology 2/ Click the "Text Styles" tab.

Hi Mike,
Thanks.
But when I launch the software from start, the "Design Technology" is not found.
I would like to change the custom style for my footprint in the library, not only for the project.

All the symbols in my symbol library use the text style [Symbol Name] for their reference name.
If I create a new schematic design and go to the Technology dialog, and set the size of the [Symbol Name] text style to 120 instead of the default 50, then when I add components to my schematic their names appear at that larger size.
Hope this helps! David |

To rephrase what David said, the size (and all styles) are not stored in the library. They are stored in Technology files. So any style you use will come from the currently active Technology file. To make it global over all [new] projects you would need to change the value in the default Technology file.
But this will not effect any existing projects unless you load the Technology file or change the value in each PCB design.

Oh I see. Start to understand now. So is it possible to change the technology file data without opening a project?
Is it a recommended practice to use the default "[Symbol Name]" instead of a custom style? I wanted to change the text size of the reference number on my footprints.

If you stick to using the standard built-in style names like [Symbol Name] then it probably makes it clearer to see what is going on, as that style will always be there.
If you want to edit a technology file, just use File Open and browse to your technology file folder, you can then open the files just like designs. You will just see a black 'drawing' window but can get to things like the Technology dialog.
For users of V17 onwards there is a shortcut to this, from Settings, Folders, Technology Files, select the tech file in the list and click the Edit button.

Yes, but why bring up a blank grid and then have to go to Settings=> Design/Tech again? I would have expected a nicely formatted page(s) with all the relevant parameters clearly displayed and being capable of being edited. |
