Easy-PC 16.0.2. on Vista. I cannot create a new package in the 3D model. I can display existing ones made in V14/V15 in the preview in my own library. It will allow me to create something using a PCB layout symbol name (as per the new User system) but not an independant package with aliases as previously. I am not ready to user the new User system yet!
Now upgraded to V16.0.3 Trying to create new generic Non-User 3D package. It will allow me to create a package with the same name as an existing PCB symbol but not any other name. There is no rename feature in 3D symbol library creation. This means I will have to create a dummy PCB symbol with the name that I want for a generic part and then another PCB symbol for the real part parts. I may then be able to delete the original. This appears to be the norm for User parts but I AM NOT CREATING USER PARTS at this stage. Will V16.0.04 fix this?
Further to the above. I tried to create a simple 3D Non User package using PCB name etc. When trying to save it to the library it gave Unrecoverable Error and I lost it.
I would contact support directly regarding this .... you will get a quicker response as I am not sure how often support check the forum. I have always found if you contact them direct, the problems are normally resolved with a day or less !!
I have done that already. Peter wants details of problem. I have set up another machine with 15.0.7. I plan to perform the same task with both setups (16.0.3 and 15.0.7).
Tests with 15.0.7 are OK. Tests with 16.0.3 still showed problem and gave unrecoverable errors at every attempt to save to library. Uninstalled 16.0.3 and removed all Number One system folders and registry entries. Rebooted and did a clean install (16.0.2) followed by upgrade to 16.0.3. Problem no longer there. Reinstalled options (router, gerber import, easy-spice2) . Still OK after a week or so of use. It looks as if the upgrade routine from 15 to 16 is faulty.
