Hi,
I'm installing EasyPC v16 onto a Win7 (64bit) machine, and its come up saying valid serial not found. I installed as an admin, and am running easypc as an admin too. The product code comes up as "None" and there isnt an option to enter the code anywhere either? (at least I cant find it)
Any ideas? |

I have exactly the same problem. It says that it has accepted the product key and will be ok when the application is re-started, but when you do it just says there is no product key !! If you got to "about" easypc it will ask to upgrade by entering the product key ... Accepts but again it doesn't work.
Very annoying, i have had to re-instate V15 to get on with some work.
Need a fast answer on this one Numberone !
Also windows7 home premium (64 bit)

Fix is in another thread ....
If you are on Windows 7 (or Vista) you should right-click on the Easy-PC program shortcut and choose 'Run as administrator', on XP (although the problem rarely happens on XP) just run up the program.
Now go to Help, About, click Upgrade, and enter your 16-character number again. This should put the missing number in the correct place in the system registry.
Please note you lso need to do this when you want to register an optional feature code. Iain |

Iain,
I've done the "Run as Administrator" , but this is what I see http://picturepush.com/public/8835125
I also tried running the installer as the administrator but same thing happened. |

dose have any ideas why I cant install on win7. Ive run the install as an administrator, and I am running easypc as an admin, but it doesnt recognise the license key, and there isnt the "Upgrade" button on the about page. It just opens up in "Read only" mode.
Any ideas? |

hodali, It installs fine on an XP machine. The file is 95Meg, and you need to type a password in InstallShield to install it - so I'm fairly sure its not a demo.
At least I am pretty sure it's not a demo - I got the someload link direct from NumberOne systems. Is there a way inside easyPC to see if its the demo?
I've emailed support@numberone.com to try and get to the bottom of it, but if anyone else has any ideas then I am willing to try.

Right, I sorted it. I needed to use regedit to create a new string in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Wow6432Node -> Number One Systems -> Epcwin -> Product ->Epcwin -> 16.0 -> Registration = 1234567890ab12ab
Now it opens fine, so I guess it as registry permissions. god I hate windows sometimes.
Hopefully this helps someone though. |

Where the [Upgrade] button is missing, it's necessary to do a registry patch. The method is complex, but it WILL allow the code to be entered.
I have listed a text file below. This is a registry file which can be modified to accept your codes. Note that the two lines starting 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE shouldn't, but do, wrap to the next line, so make sure to restore them to a single line in each case. It is configured for a 64 bit system. For a 32 bit system, copy to Notepad and remove the extra 'folder' 'Wow6432Node' from the paths.
While editing in Notepad, replace the angled brackets like <Gerber import code> with the real number/code. Remove any hyphens, and put any letters in upper case. For any options you don't need, just delete the relevant line or replace the text string with a zero. Save the file, then using Windows change the name from 'Myfile.txt' to 'Myfile.reg'. When this has been accepted, just double click on the file and allow it to add the contents to the registry. They will become valid the next time you open Easy-PC.
-------------------------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Number One Systems\Epcwin\Product\Epcwin\16.0] "Registration"="<Easy-PC Product key code>"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Number One Systems\Epcwin\Product\Epcwin\16.0\Options] "449A"="<EasyRouter>" "55C3"="<TraceRouter>" "2610"="<ProRouter>" "3A51"="<Specctra Router Interface>" "C9A1"="<Gerber Import>" "77A"="<Intelligent Gerber Import>" "1C07"="<IDF3 Output>" "63A7"="<GenCAD export>"

I'm installing EasyPC v16 on a 32bit Windows XP machine and I can't get it to activate either.
I had to go to the "About" section to enter the product code and the "Upgrade" option doesn't show up anymore. It still opens in a Read-only mode as if it was still the demo.
I've looked into the registry and the product code has been entered correctly in the right folder.
I'm now stumped so I'm tempted to reinstall v15 and try to upgrade again. |

For anybody still experiencing this, please contact <sales@numberone.com> and request a V16.0.3 download.
Note that applying the V16.0.3 patch will NOT solve this. It's an installation issue, so you need to either do it through the [Upgrade] button, or do a fresh full installation.
We've managed to track down the incompatibility with some installations of Windows, and we've tweaked the installation script in a way that overcomes this. So all installations from V16.0.3 onwards should be OK. |

I have found a simple fix to this (needed due to a replacement PC Win7 64bit). Use regedit to go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\WoW6432Node\Number One Systems\Epcwin\Product\Epcwin and change 15.0 to 16.0 and the authorisation code entered during setup becomes available to the software. It looks as if the updated version 16 wrote to version 15 registry record during install. |
