Hi,
Another novice question - i can see the Gerber Setup screen has a section called Format. This section contains Integer and Decimal boxes and the default is 2 and 3 respectively.
I am unsure what they mean - but i would assume that the output allows for 2 integer numbers for what is effectively the mantissa and 3 decimal places.
For inches set up this would seem to be OK for a board size of 280mm x 260mm.
Therefore if using mm, should i then set Integer to 3 to cope with the scale grter than 99, i.e. 280mm ?.
Thanks and regards,
Richard.
P.S. The help fuile does not indicate what is the correct settings. |

Richard,
Again .... I have never alterd this in any way and have done hundreds of boards.
If there are any issues witha gerber file the manufacturer would probably get back to you anyway.

Iain is right, it doesn't tend to cause too many issues, although we've had the occasional situation where the small arcs on poured copper can become slightly distorted if you are only working to 2.3" format for example.
We already intend to change our default settings to something finer, probably 2.5 or 3.5 format, as most fabshops can deal with a range of formats anyway and its hardly like disk space is at a premium these days! |
