I have a component which has a curved portion on the silkscreen and a silkscreen dot in it as well. (It's a Hamamatsu photodiode S1133, if anyone's interested!)
I would like to create a 3D version of this part, which ought to follow the outside edge of the silkscreen but by preference ignore the dot. The closest I've got to anything sensible is the Box style, but that is just a rectangle. If I try to use Shape, all I get is the dot!
Any ideas?

I'd just like to add that the 3D stuff is great but needs developing a bit more ! It would be nice to be able to use the 3D models (associate with the PCB symbol) that many manufacturers now provide (i.e. Molex) instead of just generic shapes that seem to have a mind of their own sometimes :-) Im sure if the 3D view uses OpenGL, then this isn't too difficult !

I wonder if the larger shape is actually a single closed shape, or made up from two or more separate shapes/arcs/lines. That might account for it not being the shape used if you choose 'Shape' as the type for the 3D package.
And yes, we know that using 3D models from external sources would be desirable, and is already logged on our system, but those 3D formats are pretty complex beasts (and I use that word on purpose) which is part of the reason for it not being done before.

I've gone back to check & it's not a closed shape. I'll try re-defining the silkscreen as a closed shape & see what happens. I'll let you know if it works!

Yup, changed it to a closed shape & it comes out a treat when the 3D Package Style is set to Shape :)
