How do I add a DXF border to a schematic? I have an 11X17 border saved as a DXF format but when I import it, it shows up real small in the lower left corner.
Thanks in advance Tim C. |

Hi, When you import the DXF file you will be presented with a menu where you can select various options. At the top right hand corner you will find a box where you can change the scale of the drawing as you place it onto the schematic. You may need to try it several times until you get the size right. I hope this helps,

I got the border imported but could use some tips to tweak it. I do not understand why I need to scale my border that is drawn 1 to 1. So here is what I have so far..
I import the 11 X 17 inch border at a scale of 800, then when I print it I set the print scale to 110%.
It prints ok but it is not centered vertically. It is about 1/4" closer to the bottom than the top. How do i get it centered?
Thanks Tim C. |

I manged to get the plot centered by using the "Outoput" menu - Plotting and Printing dialog, by setting th eoffset parameters. BUT once I got the plot centered in this function I tried to plot from the file menu and when it plotted it was not centered. The only way it will plot centered is via the Plotting and Printing Dialog.
Is there a way to get these parameters to apply to the File menu print function?
Thanks Tim c. |

Hi Tim, You probably made your border up in inches in another program and when you read it into your schematic, which is most likely in thou then it would place it into the layout in those units. So if you had the scale set to 100 (percent) it would come in as 17 thou x 11 thou. Hence you need to either change the units in the original border drawing to thou or scale it up as necessary. When I plot I use the 'fit to page button in the print option dialogue box since the schematic doesn't need to be to any specific size. The fit to page option centralises the plot for you as well.
Best regards, Boris |

The Easy PC manual V10.0 says there are predefined borders in the Discrete library (not sure why they should be there) but I have not been able to find any pre defined borders.
Does anyone know where they are located?
Thanks Tim C. |

Well, they used to be in Discrete, but they were moved some versions ago to Schema.cml, so the manual's wrong. They're named for the size paper they will fit onto, so you've got A1,2,3,4, Letter, and a few others. They're not exact paper size, but allow a handling margin round the edge. |
