This software is new to me so I'm fumbling around with setting defaults and such. Is there any way to filter just text of all the components and globally change the style? I'm trying to set all Ref Designators and values to the same text with a single edit, is this possible?
Thanks! Cy |

Look at: V11: [Settings], [Styles], 'Text' tab V12: [Settings], [Design Technology], 'Text Styles' tab
Three of the 4 default entries are [Pin Names], [Pin Numbers] and [Symbol Names]. These are the styles used for pin names, numbers, and component references (and values). Any changes made to these will affect all the matching items in the design, so it's the global tweaking facility you're looking for. |

Great! I messed up and changed them manually.
Is there a way to filter just a certain value part? I have a bunch of 10uF caps that I want to add the part number and vendor number to but it keeps selecting all the caps.
Thanks! |

<settings> <component values> will give you a list of all components in design where you can copy/cut & paste.
Watch out, only do this in the schematic editor, and then forward design changes.... doesn't work the other way... ie changing in the PCB editor and doing back annotation ... a real pity if you are using multiple schematics in a project.

Thanks Iain,
Can I put in a "nice to have" request? It would be great if the program would allow sorting by columns like excel.
Thanks! |

Trouble is, we're using a Microsoft utility to generate the tables, and it won't let you do that. Typical MS! However, we do plan to replace it with a 3rd party one.
It's a major piece of work, both finding the right one, and replacing it without breaking too much stuff! It's surprising just how deep a utility like that goes into the code. It is a high priority job, unfortunately like too many others at present. We WILL get to it, but at present we're not quite sure when. |
