I have a query as to what "normal" practice is and would be interested in your comments and/or advice in this matter.
Take a double sided pcb with SM components on both sides. I normally define the "Origin" (with a text breakout) as the bottom left hand corner, looking from the top side.
When I create a Report Component Positions CSV, the resulting table references the position of the bottom side components as if they were on the "Top" side. During manufacture, the pcb would be flipped to place the bottom side components, so the "Origin" is now bottom right hand side. Therefore the new "X" would be negative old "X" whilst the "Y" stays the same.
My CEM understands this and compensates for this when preparing the manufacturing data, but I'm just curious as to what is the Industry convention?
Or is there a Component Position Report setting that I'm not aware of? Thanks. |
