Posted - 30 Jul 2015 : 12:08:18 I see from the main website that version 19 is compatible with Windows 8 (I actually have 8.1) but no mention of Windows 10. I will probably upgrade to Windows 10 quite soon.

Posted - 07 Aug 2015 : 12:48:57 I installed Windows 10 last night and it works very well. Windows 10 is much better than Windows 7. I like the new start button. Easy-PC 17 works fine on Windows 10 as well. |

Have just installed Windows 10 and V19.0.1 works OK. |

Posted - 03 Aug 2015 : 22:59:33 I guess a lot of this is already switched on in windows 8.1. I know Ive switched off a fair bit but windows 10 is looking pretty sneaky.
Thanks for the info. |

Posted - 03 Aug 2015 : 21:07:55 Hi,
Further information :
Privacy On Default Options. It allows Microsoft to log what you do and collect, this is not the preview download either.

Posted - 03 Aug 2015 : 17:12:29 Hi,
Another issue is that Windows 10 acts like a torrent - allowing your PC to supply updates to others on the internet :

Not sure if this will be stopped if people complain.

Posted - 03 Aug 2015 : 17:11:10 Apparently Mickey$oft have released a 1GB patch to fix some problems! Maybe 8.1 isn't so bad after all!

Posted - 03 Aug 2015 : 14:11:12 Another one to watch out for is Wifi Sense. Apparently it shares your wifi password (encrypted microsoft say's) and also microsoft stores it online for you to share :) So any friends wanting to hook up to your router can instantly.
You can switch this off. |

Posted - 03 Aug 2015 : 12:12:24 From another forum:
The five top new features of Windows 10 according to ITPro are:
1. Automatic Updates cannot be turned off , unless you are an 'Enterprise User' where you can and be assured the updates won't compromise installed software. (Yeah right!)
2. You cannot select any competitor to Microsoft's new browser (Edge) as your 'default'.
3. A move back to the [Start Menu]. (There's nothing wrong with the current Start Menu in Windows 8.1.)
4. A means to use your laptop as a tablet (Continuum).
5. 'Multi-tasking'. (As far as I know Windows has always supposed to have been a multi-tasking OS.)

Posted - 03 Aug 2015 : 07:53:22 I will not be installing in my main WIN7 machine until many months have passed and all the horror stories have come to light !
I will allow it on my Win8.1 tablet to get a feel for it and to see if it is worth while.

Posted - 02 Aug 2015 : 21:04:13 There was rumour that it contains built-in keylogging to track what files you open and which keys you press! Further investigation shows that this was in the tech-preview version but it may or may not have been removed from the release version. There are also much tighter controls on applying Windows updates. They cannot be delayed or refused the only control you have is when your machine will restart after an automatic update has been installed.
It's still probably a good idea to stay away for a couple of months until the early bugs are sorted out.

Posted - 02 Aug 2015 : 16:32:59 John, considering that probably nobody reads the EULA, including myself, perhaps you could enlighten us ?

Posted - 30 Jul 2015 : 14:41:42 Hi,
It may be prudent to test Windows 10 with any drivers for equipment you have before upgrading your work PC.

Posted - 30 Jul 2015 : 13:03:28 Where it says 8 it should say "8 and 8.1", and the notice about supporting 10 will be posted shortly. Our testing on 10 has found no issues that need to be resolved, so I don't anticipate you will have any problems using Easy-PC on that version. |
