I installed the 17.0.3 patch a few days ago and have just created the first new design since then. The design is very simple so I thought it would take about 20 mins to create the schematic and another 20 to create the PCB. How wrong can you be!

I use an A4 sheet in all my schematics design which is a schematic only component. This has never been a problem until today when I suddenly get an Integrity Check error reporting that the A4 sheet is missing from the PCB. EPC is very helpful in that it offers to update the PCB to bring into line with the schematic, however, as expected, it fails to do this as the A4 sheet is a schematic only component. Doh!

Has anyone else come across this problem?

I should add that I have reported this to Support, but don't really expect a reply until next week.

Hi John, I'm working on a design comprising 5 A4 schematics and like you get 5 missing components on the pcb which represent the 5 A4 borders I use. Hadn't noticed this until V 17.3. Forward design changes etc.does not cure the issue.
Hope this is some consolation. I too am waiting some form of comment from No1 regarding Gerber issues, but I suspect that they are too busy supporting DesignSpark's recently released free IDF export feature which we have to pay for as a bolt on added cost option.

Edrees, good to see you're still working on the computer at 3am!

Anyway, I'm glad it's not just me, but rather annoyed as I uninstalled V17 completely last night and now have to reinstall V 17.0.2.

Reverting to 17.0.2 with a complete re-install seems to have fixed it.

It's starting to look like Design Spark is the way of the future. No annual upgrade charges and lots of instant support from Number One! It shouldn't be too difficult for Easy PC users to migrate. The downsides being that current designs can't be ported and new designs are out there somewhere in the cloud for any able hacker to find.

The problem with Designspark is it only very limited subset of EasyPC and is therefore pretty useless from a professional point of view

I can see there was a mod in latest update regarding schematic only components and non padded items that seems to have created this problem.

No doubt Numberone will act on it immediately

I've had an answer from Support and there has been a subtle change to the way components are included in the PCB. The old way was to exclude any component which has no pins.

To stop this problem occurring, tick the checkbox "SCM to/from PCB" in the "Suppress Component" section of the "Component Properties" tab (Alt+Enter). It appears that this can only de done on the schematic and isn't available as a property in the library which would be the sensible option.

Thanks John & Iain.

Just wonder if there's a possibility of suppressing another more serious error as well?
Otherwise why have this "SCM to/from PCB" checkbox option at all?

I'd rather have a "schematic only error" flagged up just to be sure.

We are working on a solution to this issue which has indeed arisen as an unintended consequence of an earlier fix.

The correct solution is for the code to ignore schematic-only components as before, rather than for you to head off down the path of suppressing components on an individual basis, although that is probably an acceptable workaround for now.

We've now got the fix available, so if anyone would like a copy, please drop an email to the support address requesting the V17.0.3 interim patch.
