I've split a complex cct diagram into "Groups" of components (by function) and these translate nicely into the PCB layout editor. However, the application suggests/implies that the user can edit the Group by adding additional components. I want to add a new resistor (R100) to Group 9 for example. So with R100 selected, I click "Add To Group". It prompts me for the Group number, and I select Group 9. It then complains that Group 9 already exists and prevents me from adding the resistor. This happens in both schematic and layout editors. Only work around appears to ungroup Group 9 and them re-group all the components again. Or am I doing it incorrectly?

Ed,

I have tried this in the schematic editor and it seems ok... I can add and/or delete components from a group

Thanks for your feedback Iain. Please try adding a new R100 to the design after the Group has been created and then try adding R100 to the pre-existing Group. Happy New Year!

Hi Ed,

Tried this in an existing design, but what happens at my end is that when you click OK to add to a group, nothing happens, i.e. the add to group dialogue box just stays there and the only way out is to cancel.

Anyway I would agree there seems to be something wrong that needs looking at.

Thanks Iain for your time confirming that this issue requires investigating. It's nice to know that it's just not me having a senile moment.

Also, just to be aware that schematic only symbols like Vcc +12V +5V etc are/can be accidentally "grouped" in the schematic editor but are (obviously) rejected by the pcb editor, ending up with a mis-match of Group numbers! This leads to "Forward Design Changes" and that the "Designs are the same, so no design changes to forward".
