That's deliberate. In fact we recently had a bug where positions were being updated to the library defaults, which triggered a rash of complaints about the amount of work being lost having to restore all the carefully repositioned text items. Unfortunately it's not practical to have it both ways.

Thanks for the Info I suspected this was the Issue, I also use some cad software called Elcad that has the same feature, but this only works if the Item has been edited if all text is default IE if it is changed by the end user it does not get modified when you updated the symbol , but then you would have to remember all modifications on each component item (a reel pain for your programmers).
A nice feature would be a tick box “update all text and position” or Full Replace.
