I'm working on a largish layout (>400 SMTs etc) for which the schematic has been drawn in easy bite-sized, function-specific sections (modules).
It would make life so much easier if I could lay the PCB out in a similar way - i.e. highlight a section of the schematic, make a list of the components involved, and then transfer that list to the PCB layout page where I could then chose to draw only those components out of the bin for layout. However, I can't see any straightforward way to do it? |

| If you Ctrl-Click all the components in the Schematic you want to group together, they will appear highlighted in the Component bin of the layout editor and you can drag them as group onto the pcb. |

| Is this before or after you click the Translate to PCB button? I've already done that, but have just tried your suggestion and none of the components come out highlighted in the bin on the layout page? I am using the latest (15) version. |

| Sorry, I forgot to mention "CrossProbe" ! After you have group selected the Components (Ctrl click or box select) click the Cross Probe icon and the components will be highlighted in the Component bin. Apols. |

Aha! That works, great!
I just discovered there is another way using the groups function, as described here:

..although I found you can just dump everything into the working area, then right-click on one of the parts in the group you want and then choose "Select Group". However your way is much quicker all round, so thanks for that  |

Also ... if you are using a multi-schematic project, you can in the PCB editor select all components that are on a particular sheet.
