Is it possible to have gates of the same component on different schematic sheets,
IE I try to have all my IC with power pins as different gates, so I can group them with decupling caps, but I also want the onboard PSU on a different sheet, as this sheet is empty I would like to have all the power pins on this sheet.
Is this possible?
Also is it possible to turn off the gate Indent symbol.

| I don't know why this hasn't been replied to, but it ought to have been. You can't have gates on different sheets, but you ouight to be able to! I suggested this essential feature years ago. |

It is possible to have different gates of the same component on different sheets. I just can't quite remember how you do it.
It something along the lines that on the sheet you add a similar gate, but then change its atributes to that of the other component, it then asks if you want to use the gate from the other sheet.

Right, heres how you do it.
Add your multi-gate component (U1) on sheet one and use what gates to want on that sheet. Any unused gates put them in the component bin. Now on sheet 2 add the same multi-gate component, it might be U2, select the properties of one of the gates and change its name to one of the spare gates in the component bin on sheet 1 (ie U1 gate c), the program will inform you that that gate is in the bin for sheet one and ask you if you want to use it here. Say yes and hey-presto thats it. You can obviously delete the remaining gates of U2.

No, I don't think it's possible at the moment to automate it more than it is already. The reason is to do with the way schematic sheets are handled as individual files rather than being merged into one humongous project file. The need to be able to remove individual schematics from a project limits the amount of merging that is practicable.
When you assign a gate from the second sheet, the surplus gates for the renamed component are automatically removed. This can be a bit tedious if you want to steal more than one gate, but it's the safest way in terms of data integrity. |
