I can not express how this message has annoyed me over the years. It happens upon upgrading to a new version of Easy-PC. I have some components that has a similar named version in eg. Discrete.* that I have in my own library. So far understandable.. What I do not understand is that Easy-PC INSISTS on the component using a footprint 0805 should be the version in Discrete.psl and not my .psl lib what it was originaly made with. All components that a similar named part in a Easy-PC standard lib, it automatically assumes I want to use that instead. Thus I simply erased all similar named parts in Easy-PC lib's. Now I can not get any of those components. Since Easy-PC throws the above error, and should I try to update the component I just get a new message that this couldn't be done. Due to some data couldn't be reached.. If I in the library editor erase the part and redo again, nothing changes I get the same message...
This seems to be a common problem but one I don't have. I do not rely on the Easy-PC libraries for my designs. I either create the symbol from scratch or copy and rename the new symbol (adjusting it if necessary). I use a drawing number for each symbol (i.e., three numbers per complete basic component). These are controlled 'drawings' and will not be overwritten by Easy-PC at any time. They are also unique within the computer and do not confuse the parts selection system.
The reasons for this behaviour have been explained several times in other threads. Please read this FAQ. If you still don't understand what's going on, then please ask again, but in the context of this document:
