I have a problem adding existing schematic and pcb files to a project. When try to add, browse to the desired file and double click I get a window that says "Failed to open document"

I'm using version 14.01 on Win XP Pro.

Think Ive seen this before

Check you (or someone else on your network) does not already have the files open.

If the schem and pcb files were once part of another project try this.

Create a new directory.
Make a copy of the files and put them in this new directory.

Open a new project and save it to this new directory.
Now try adding the files to your new project.

Hope this helps.

Hi Kev. Not quite sure what was going on as the files hadn't been open on the network and they had never been part of another project. Still, your suggestion worked so thanks for the help.

All files must be in the same directory as the project file. Thats all it is !

Hi Iain. Is it, then, not possible to have subfolders within a project to hold different versions of schematic and pcb?

Probably not ... anyway you can copy a project to another folder and rename all files.
