I have a standard symbol for a resistor and multiple footprints. If I select 0805 and place it on my schematic and translate to PCB all is well. However if I now go back to the schematic and cahnge it for another footprint (say 0603) and forward design changes, I not can only move the resistor in the X axis !!!!

This has happened since moving to V14 !!!!

I had a similar problem after upgrading when changing a footprint in that the component jumped miles away from its true position and could not be moved back, even when setting its position in properties. I then realised that I could drag the component so far and no further befgore I appeared to hit a brick wall. Talking it through with Peter it appears that the component reference (eg R1) is jumping miles away from the component and is then effectively hitting the edge of the working area. It sounds as if your reference is touching either the top or bottom of the working area and thus stopping you moving in the y plane.

As a work around try zooming in and searching the edges of the working area and if you find an orphaned reference drag it back to its component. You can then hopefully move the component to its correct position again. But beware that it will probably do the same thing again fairly regularly.

Not a lot of fun.

Iain,

Yes, they are working on but it seems to be effecting different people in different ways. They are also working on a few other problems such as no excellon drill output which Peter has just sent me a patch for. I believe 14.01 might be out in a couple of days.

Patch 14.0.1 with fixes for both these issues is currently in test and should be released to the web site very soon.
