Hi,

Not sure if this has been requested before, or is included, but i have had to create XLR and Phono (RCA) etc., connectors in the component library.

The edge of the PCB if mating with the back panel of the enclosure, still requires that part of the footprint of the connector to extend outside of the PCB edge.

To overcome this i have had to reduce the silk screen connector edge by the amount to allow the silk screen to print to the edge of the PCB, but will allow the connector to protrude past the PCB edge.

The enhancement for the library would be to add notes to the component stating that the silk screen has been adjusted accordingly to allow for a connector to mate with the back panel of the enclosure - as example text.

Alternatively, what happens when the silk screen extends past the PCB edge and you want the PCB to be manufactured - will it be rejected ?.

Could the PCB part of Easy-PC allow for the truncation of the silk screen as an option ?.

Not sure if others have solved this in another way ?. Thanks.

Regards,

Richard.

Any overlap of silk screen outwith the board edge is simply cut-off at manufacture. So simply create your component at the correct size and let it overlap ..... it makes no difference from a manufacturing point of view.

Hi Iain,

Thanks. Knowing that the manufacturing will ignore this helps in keeping the footprint accurate such that i do not have to recall the changes made to accommodate the mechanical requirements.

Richard.
