Hi, I was wondering if it would be possible to have the net connections staggered out with a 45 degree step so it is easier to pick them when connections are in a straight line. I often have large DIL components where several pads on each side are connected together, such as 2 and 7, 4 and 9, 3 and 12 and so on. The nets are shown as direct line(s) from one pad to another and picking the correct net is a hit and miss affair. Now if the nets that join pads that are in line were to leave a pad at 45 degrees for a short distance before heading off to the next pad and then enter that pad at 45 degrees it would be easier to pick and it would be obvious that any pad in between was not part of that net. Yes, I know you can highlight a net to help but having staggered net connections would be of a great benefit especially with several ICs in rows with duplicate connections. I think I have explained what I mean. . . .
Many thanks,
Boris

Yes, I understand what you are asking for. I've logged it as an enhancement request on our support database. Of course it will have to fight with all the other requests to get into the product, but at least its on the system now!

Super stuff David, and while you are at it would it be possible to show Z axis guides as diamond shapes. I have several surface mount pads that lie directly one below the other which are electrically connected but you cannot see the net because it is is the Z plane. A DRC check will find that the connection is not made but it would be nice to be able to see it in layout.
Many thanks,

I've added that suggestion for 'Z-only' connections to the log entry.
