This is something you shouldn't be able to do, as flipped components change layer, but flipped tracks don't, so surface pads acquire vias (that don't vanish if you flip back). Fortunately, there's a narrow gap in the error trapping that allows a work-around for this.

You need to pre-change the electrical layers before flipping. Open [Settings], [Design Technology], and select the 'Layers' tab ([Settings], [Layers] on older versions). Identify the top and bottom electrical layers by their type and side attributes. For the top electrical layer, double click on the 'Side' box, and choose 'Bottom' as the new side. Similarly change the bottom electrical layer so it has a new side 'Top'. Now use the [Up] and [Down] buttons to sort the layers so they are in order 'Top', 'Inner' and 'Bottom' again. If you wish you can also reverse the layer colours by double clicking on the colour cell and picking a new one.

[OK] the changes, select your whole design, and flip it, and you won't have any vias.

Remember to prechange the layers back before you flip it back again!!

Watch out for inner copper pours, I tried this and they went out of registration with the other layers.

Or alternatively upgrade to V15 which has the long awaited Reverse View option!
