Hi

Can anyone please explain what I need to check to resolve the error below:

"The 'Thermal Isolation' value in the following plot(s) is smaller than the copper to pad design rule spacing.
GND (Powerplane)
Do you wish to continue with plotting anyway?
Yes No"

The error occurs when I try to create the Gerber files on a 3 layer design. If I delete the groundplane then run the Gerber output then it is fine, when I put the groundplane back the error returned. I have altered values for the thermal Relief and Isolataion Gap in the Spacings setting but this did not help, and I can't find a Copper to Pad setting.

I think this is just a setting I just don't seem to be able to find it , any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Brian Kinsley

In V11, the clearance is adjustable using [Settings], [Spacings]. There's a further check box under [Output], [Plotting & Printing], [Options] button, 'Use All Spacings...'. When checked, this forces the isolation gap to be used only for those pads which connect to a plane or copper pour. All others use the standard pad to shape spacing. (For 'Copper', read 'Shape' - I'll make a note of the confusion.) If unchecked, the isolation gap is used for all pad clearances in the pour or plane.

V12 has the clearances on the 'Spacings' tab under [Settings], [Design Technology], and the checkbox is now on the 'Rules' tab, now called 'Plane Oversize Uses All Spacings', but the function is the same.
