It appears that on some Windows Vista machines, the 'grid' in the Component Editor does not work. It either fails to appear, or gives an error message and the program may then quit.
If you find this is the case, and re-registering the OCX has failed*, try the following solution which we have found to work for all instances reported to us so far:
- on the Start menu, browse to the Number One Systems folder - right-click on the entry for Easy-PC - choose "Run As Administrator" - open any component for editing (you will probably still get an error here) - close the component and exit from the program
Note that you may be prompted by Vista to give permission to launch the application this way.
Once you have done this once, you should find that the component grid works fine from now on when launching the program in the normal way.
I have recently acquired a Vista laptop to replace my aging Dell Inspiron and transferred Easy PC version 12 to it. I have tried both the solutions mentioned in this post and am still getting a grid error message when trying to create a new component. Is there any other known fix for this?
Thanks Peter. I haven't tried to create a new component yet just editing existing ones so haven't see that problem. However I've downloaded the dll and dropped it in anyway.
