I have been using Easy PC on my non IT controlled laptop without incident. Our IT dept. just installed it on my domain connected desktop PC and everything seemed fine until I tried to edit a component. When launching the component editor I got a popup error from EPCWin stating:

"Due to a problem initializing a Microsoft OCX control the grid cannot be displayed. this option has now been turned off in Preferences."

Upon hitting OK:

"An unrecoverable application error has occurred. The program is no longer able to continue and will terminate when OK is pressed."

Has anyone seen this or knows of a fix?

Thanks

From this forum, click on Site Home, then Technical, and choose 'Tool Downloads'. Download a copy of MsFlxGrd.ocx. Now go to FAQs on the Technical menu, and read the FAQ for 'Restoring operation of the grid control' for instructions on how to use it.

It's possible that your IT department have been a bit draconian in their restrictions. You may need to point them to this message and the instructions, especially if you can't complete the operation because you're barred.

I had the exact same problem.
It was a new machine with a clean WinXP install, all updates added, and the first application loaded was Easy PC. I tried many things along the lines of uninstall, and re-install.

I just tried out the MsFlxGrd.OCX rememdy posted previous and it works great for me.

Thank you for this information.
I have successfully got my MSFLXGRD.OCX registered.

Just like to share my experience resolving the
"Microsoft OCX control the component grid cannot be displayed"
issue under Windows 7 operating system.

I am using Windows7, Easy-PC ver12.06

Error Message pop up from Easy-PC: Microsoft OCX control the component grid cannot be displayed

Solution:
1) Download "msflxgrd.ocx" from Easy-PC website.
http://www.numberone.com/supporttools.asp
2) Copy the file "msflxgrd.ocx" to c:\Windows\SysWOW64\
2) Register this "msflxgrd.ocx" to the operating system
reference: http://www.numberone.com/faq.aspx?KB020026
a) Click Windows7 start button on the lower left corner of your screen
b) In the "search programs and files" box, type in "cmd"
c) The cmd program will be listed on top.
d) Right click the shortcut to cmd program for the context menu, and click "Run as administrator"
e) Change directory to c:\Windows\SysWOW64\, type "cd \Windows\SysWOW64\" then Enter.
f) Type "REGSVR32 MSFLXGRD.OCX" then Enter.
g) You should see the following message "DllRegisterServer in MSFLXGRD.OCX succeeded".

Note: If you encounter the following messages
"The module xxx.dll was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x8002801c."
It may be because you did not run as administrator.

Best Regards

It may also be your Direct x !
I know this is a fairly old post, but just recently I "re-done" my PC, Win7/64 OS.
Easy-pc (v13.0) used to run just fine previously on the same OS, BUT this time I came up agianst this msflxgrd grid problem. I tried all the remedies as posted here and elsewhere, but nothing would work.

From what I also read, "msflxgrd" is actually an old ACTIVE X dll. Which made me think that my direct x may also be a problem.
I checked and my current version is Directx 11.
I then loaded a copy of Nero Essentails on the machine, which I know comes with the older Directx version 9.0c.
This immediately solved my problem.
SO... first follow the instructions posted by siongboon. If you still have no joy, install also directx Ver 9.0c
I hope my many hours of struggle will be of further help to people.
