Is there a shortcut key I can use to temporarily lock movement of items in an up/down - left/right motion?

I have dredged the help file but cannot find it.

Currently I have to switch grid sizes and use arrow keys to do this, and it is eating up way too much time.

This was a feature of Boardmaker (before I converted To EZPC) and I found it useful too!

You can Fix and Unfix items by allocating a key shortcut.

Iain, -"Fixing/Unfixing" is not quite the issue.

This request is to move an item on the screen either in the up/down or left right direction only by inhibiting the mouse travel in the other direction.

For example, I think in Boardmaker depressing the X (could have been Y key?) key allowed the item to freely move under mouse control only in the North/South dimension.
