Hi All
I have been advised to post to this forum to try to solve a problem.
We have been using EasyPC 5 for a number of years now, and it has served us well. We produce a design, output Gerbers and drill file and send them off to our PCB manufacturer. Job done.
However, I have subcontracted a large batch of populated PCB's to a local company, who use a different PCB manufacturer. This manufacturer says that where we use pads (donuts) in the layout, they need to see as solid copper areas, which means they have to convert all our pads. They insist that their system looks for the centre of a solid copper area when plotting for drilling.
It seems to me that if this were the case, then why bother to incorporate pads in the software anyway.
I have several questions:
1. Is this correct? 2. If so, is there an easy way to convert? 3. Would I be better off upgrading to the current version? i.e. will this overcome the problem?
Apologies if this sounds naive, but I only have experience of this one system, and just want to get the problem sorted quickly. Any help would be most gratefully received.

Paul,
On your Gerber output dialog, you should find a "Fill Drill Holes" checkbox. Just tick that box, and your Gerber files should then get pads generated as flashed filled circles instead of donuts.

Hi David
Thanks very much for the advice. I tried it, output new Gerbers, sent them off and all is now OK.
