I have trouble with the hard disk and I need to reinstall Easy-PC Version 17. Unfortunately I couldn't find the latest update for Easy-PC 17. Can anyone provide the latest update (bug fixes), please?

Hi,

I too have had hard disk failures and so I only ever backed up data, not programs. As such, I do not have release 17 patches.

As an aside, I have had 15% failure rate for western digital hard disks, where I understand that HGST are very reliable alternatives.

Regards,

Shadders.

Hodali,
Maybe if you speak nicely to NumberOne they can get you the patch you need.

Shadders,
I am not sure if you can relate failure rate to a specific branch.
Indeed HGST (former IBM) seem to be very reliable. But I also have little problems using the WD-Red drives on systems that are on most of the time.

I do hear a lot of problems from my PC guy with WD-green, they seem to have some sort of counter in them causing them to fail.

WD however do have a 3 or 5 year guarantee on their disk, can't you simply exchange one?

Hi,
The WD drives were a blue, and I am not sure of the other one. I am not sure of the age of the blue, as I have thrown it away, but it is more trouble to send it back than get a new one. The older one was rarely used -powered off machine, so it was rather annoying in this case.

I recall HGST was IBM, and I think WD owns HGST now too.

Searching the Internet, HGST do have the best reliability, as per data centre figures.

Regards,

Shadders.

Regarding V17, an email to <sales@numberone.com> including your customer reference number will result in a fresh download link. Although the link itself expires after a few days, the downloaded file is permanent. Don't leave it too long, as IIRC V16 is currently the oldest version available for download. Older versions are not kept indefinitely!
