Hello there - I have run into an interesting problem that I have only recently observed after upgrading to EasyPC 20. I have created a PCB Symbol and Component object in my local library that I am trying to add to another library. In the past, after saving the PCB symbol as a *.psy file and saving the Component as a *.cmp file, I would be able to use the "Add File" button on the PCB Symbol or Component tab of the Library Manager and the file would be added without any issue. However, while this process still works for the PCB Symbol *.psy file, it does not work for the Component *.cmp file. I can select the "Add File" button, the dialog box pops up, I can select the *.cmp file, and click OK. But afterward, the file does not appear in the Library Contents. I have not changed the process from before EasyPC 20, so can someone confirm if this is a bug or if there is something I am not doing correctly in the new version?
Edited to add that I am running Windows 7 and had this problem both with EasyPC versions 20.0.1 and 20.0.3. |

To add a component from one library to another do the following:
Select the source library. Select the component. Click on "Export" and save the .elt file. Select the destination library. Click on "Add File" and select the saved .elt file.
Job done.

Or simply (in the component library) select component, click "Copy To" and enter destination component library.

Thanks to you both for the quick reply. I tried out both of these methods and they seemed to work without issue.
John - Your method is especially useful when adding components created by someone else to my local library, since they can send me the *.elt file. Previously, the method used was for *.ssy, *.psy, and *.cmp files to be saved separately and then I would add each of those files to their respective library sections (Schematic Symbols, PCB Symbols, Components). As long as the names and linkages between them remained the same, the Library Manager would find them without issue. So while I'm still a little curious why this method stopped working in EasyPC 20, the *.elt method you described does appear to be simpler (less steps, less files to save, etc).
Iain - Your method was even simpler regarding the transfer of components from one library to another, of which I will certainly be making use.
Thanks again, -Matt |

Matt, I believe the .elt file was created exactly for that purpose.
