I have a component that I used many times in one design. I actually want to change that part to a different part. Is there a way to do a complete change of all the parts in one go? I do not want to have to walk through all the schematics looking to change it each component one at a time or as a group. I just want to automatically be able to select all usage of a component in a design and change component used.

Hi Trevor,
Select the component from the PCB editor using the GOTO=>Component (By Type). Right Click on component, then Select All Found Items. Cross Probe to schematic, then cancel cross probe to find all instances of component highlighted. Right click one highlighted component, then left click to get drop down menu. Properties=>Change. Replace component with alternative, then Apply. Hope this is what you're after!

in V20 you can just go to Tools, Replace Component, this takes you to a dialog where you can do a full replace of all instances of one component type with another, without the need to select stuff beforehand.

Thanks for the replies. I have V20 and I thought this feature existed, I just could not remember where. Sorted now, thanks. It helps a lot when using BOM composer and changing a part number and wanting to update the design properly.
