Well any day now we should get the new version. I was wondering what features we might see in this release. Anyone got any ideas of what the new features might be?

Well Trevor, apart from the feedback listed in,- http://www.numberone.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1023
I would also like the ability to reset the "Project Timer". True Type Fonts are still problematic especially with the EPC PDF output which is "iffy" at the best of times. The Intelligent Gerber Importer could do with a bit more intelligence especially with regard to pad styles.
However, the Developers will probably offer us something totally different and you never know, might include something revolutionary like the net names feature they added a few years ago! Fingers crossed! |

Well I think the last update was a quiet one so hoping for something good this time around. Do we know what date it's out? |

An upgrade path / option to Pulsonix would be nice :) |

Pulsonix can already directly read Easy-PC data, it has always been able to do this.
So if you are looking for a step up to bigger and more sophisticated tools and features, Pulsonix is definitely an option for you. It can simply open any Easy-PC design using File Open, and all Easy-PC libraries can be migrated across very easily, so you don't lose any of your legacy.

Problem with upgrading to Pulsonix is if your customers wish you to do layouts for them and then they want to maintain the design themselves they must get Pulsonix also ! i.e. You cannot open a Pulsonix design in EasyPC and you cannot export from Pulsonix to EasyPC.
For the money EasyPC is a fantastic tool and there really isn't anything in Pulsonix that can't be done in EasyPC albeit some things need to be done using more indirect methods.
If Pulsonix could export to EasyPC I would have purchased it years ago.

Well my big problem is that reference designs made available from the likes of TI are all in Altium format. I do not believe they are in the ASCII format either so EasyPC and Pulsonix I believe cant handle these files.
This would be such a useful feature even if the files where saved in a different format, just being able to open Altium files would be a real plus. I am actually considering Circuit Studio purely because of this issue.

Any application that can import other applications design files or formats is good in my book. Without that ability, you'll never tempt users to move to your package ... Just look at CAD packages! |

If they do nothing but fix the annoying window-select, I'll upgrade. I want to be able to window-select a bunch of stuff, then hold the CTRL key and window-select some more stuff that gets added to what I've already selected. Instead, CTRL-window-select inverts what's in the selection window. This is useless, and it used to work correctly in prior versions. |

@Geotech
This seems to work just fine for me, - makes me wonder if there is a "Preferences" setting that you need to change? |

I'm also having trouble reproducing what you describe with Frame-Select and the Ctrl key, works fine for me. We are happy to look again at this if you are still experiencing issues, please send details to support@numberone.com and we will review the situation.

Email sent, David.
Edrees, here is what I sent in the email:
I can left-click-drag-mouse and frame-select a bunch of components. But let's say I want to select another group of components in addition to what I've selected. I can left-click-drag-mouse and frame-select more components as long as my selection frame does not overlap my previous selection frame. Any place it overlaps, my previously selected components get unselected. It's like an XOR operation, and I want an AND operation.

@Geotech Thanks for the explanation, I can see the issue now, - have to be careful to avoid "overlapping" frames when performing multiple selections. |
