Posted - 07 Dec 2010 : 17:22:04 I have a gerber layer which I am trying to import. If I use the straightforward "Import" facility, the dialogue box gets to "assigning styles" and then freezes, EasyPC stops responding and you have to quit the application. If I use the Intelligent Gerber Import, all is good EXCEPT som surface mount pads that should be rectangular and on an angle are simple circles. If I view the gerbers in GC Prevue it all looks good.
Any ideas ???????

Posted - 20 Dec 2010 : 15:41:25 It really does sound like the best thing is to send the files you are trying to process to our support team and we'll take a closer look for you. It is quite possible that the gerber file that is being mis-identified as a drill file has some additional comment information in the header that is causing our importer to get the filetype wrong.
And for the file(s) that are hanging/breaking the import, that should certainly never happen so we would like to see those so we can fix the code.

Posted - 19 Dec 2010 : 23:22:20 I am having a problem with gerber import also, but this is a different issue. I have the intelligent import and when I try to import a gerber file, the import dialog says it is an NC file when it is actually a gerber file. If I try to import using the basic gerber import, the file just fails. The gerber file import correctly using gcprevue and displays correctly also. Can anyone shed light on why this is the case (there are no unusual pads). |

Posted - 08 Dec 2010 : 19:02:22 Thanks for bringing this information to my attention. The information on Boris's thread is interesting. In that thread Peter Johnston does mention simple rectagular pads that are simply rotated being an issue. In that same reply Peter does talk about resources .... This now re-inforces my position that EasyPC is now saturated and that the programmers concentrate their efforts on issues such as this AND dare I say it again .... THE LIBRARY STRUCTURE !!!! Hope they are listening ........

Posted - 08 Dec 2010 : 17:55:11 Hi Iain. I too bought "intelligent" gerber import a while ago and came across the same issues regarding pads. As far as I can understand, anything other than a round pad is created as a Macro, and Intelligent Gerber Import cannot/will not understand macros. See Boris' posting http://www.numberone.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=200 for further info. |
