Posted - 27 Aug 2014 : 10:34:26 After update to 18.0 and re-activating trace-router new PCB routed OK. All subsequent (5) simple layouts do not route. Trace-router goes through the motions but does not lay any tracks. Have tried adjusting settings such as spacing etc. Manually routes ok with no design errors. Have used manual for several simple PCB but now have a complex one that I would like to auto-route. Any suggestions as to how I can get this to auto-route. Still does this on 18.0.1. Posted - 27 Aug 2014 : 12:41:10 Iain. I know what you mean. I normally optimise manually then run auto-route a few times with adjustments of positioning. The final run is then manipulated to switch layers and position vias to suit double side without PTH. Power rail nets are thick from source but thin from the rail to individual parts. Ground is plane on both sides, done after routing. Thus there is a lot of manual work but most signal paths are not critical and can be auto-routed. |

If you want a professional word of advice ..... Never use an autorouter !
