I hate having any DRC errors, even when violations are not going to cause a problem, and will often make compromises to avoid them, . I'd rather not just "accept" certain error if I can possibly prevent it.

One thing that I'd like to solve is silk over vias. I can't seem to find a way to allow it without also allowing silk over pads, which I definitely do not want.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply, edress.

Being able to edit silkscreens (perhaps as an exception similar to pads) would be a great solution to this and several other issues, but I'd be happy with a checkbox in the DRC to exclude silkscreen-via overlaps. Pretty much every board with more than a handful of components will need to do it.

Component names can often get in the way. Those can be shifted off the vias, but often, especially in tight boards they would need to be moved far away from the component to avoid all vias.

Hi Mike, I think we all suffer from same problem and have suggested a "on-the fly" silk screen editor under post "New Ideas for V17". Iain has also requested this feature in the past.
