Go to the properties of your routing area box, and right at the bottom you will see Routing Area Type.
You can set the for tracks and/or vias to be in /out/unrestricted.

Also on routing, you can also set a routing bounding box as a "keep-out" as an alternative to a routing area.

One way of doing this to to use a height check area set to 0. This does mean that each component needs a non zero height.

Best way to do this is to create a Mechanical Information Layer and put all relevent info on that layer. Then whoever is doing the layout has a cobstant reminder of restrictions etc.

Hi Rob,
What about component placement?
Let's say an enclosure stub prevent a component to be position in a particular location due to space constraint, but routing trace is still allowed.
How do we specify a parameter such that we can be reminded.

In layout
select Add Routing area.
add routing area to each layer as required Top, Bottom, inner.
This defines the area which the router uses to route the board.
For manual routing the online DRC will flag an error if you try to route outside this area
The DRC will also flag error if check areas is selected.
