Posted - 07 Dec 2011 : 14:12:45 Does anybody know how the 3D view works out how which way round a DIL chip is? I have a board that is displaying an 8-pin chip 90 degrees out i.e. the chip body is squeezed between pins 1,8 and 2,7 rather than between pins 1,2,3,4 & 5,6,7,8 Thanks Al |

Posted - 08 Dec 2011 : 10:02:35 If all fails, try taking the "NE555" timer and edit it in the component editor to the functions/symbols of your "new" chip and then SAVE AS "mynewchip". At least this should get you going again.
There may be something in the 3D VIEW libraries that is causing you this grief. What happens if you re-save a "NE555" as an "al1234" (or your intended part number) for example? |

Posted - 07 Dec 2011 : 16:32:46 I've compared the library shape to one that works and can't find a difference. I have an 8-pin chip with 1,2,3,4 running down one side and 5,6,7,8 round the corner as usual - changes to the library shape make no difference. Logically it should either use the position of pins 1 & 2 or the position of the minimum and maximum pin number as a clue to the chip's orientation. I can't see any other settings to correct it! Any other ideas would be welcome... |

Posted - 07 Dec 2011 : 14:41:33 I think you need to check your pin-outs as EPC "knows" how a DIL is pinned and therefore how to display it in 3D. If you created the component yourself, check how a "555" timer looks like. |
