Auto rename components doesn't appear to work on multi-sheet designs. Page 1 is OK but not Page 2 (even when All Components, By Sheet, Increment On all sheets, By Location, Left to Right then Top to Bottom are all ticked and Rename this Sheet Only isn't).
Didn't have this problem before, or is it just me? |

Posted - 21 Nov 2014 : 12:21:52 Having just had the same problem I think I can add a bit more information to this...
I too had the situation were it would allow the same component name on different sheets after an auto-rename. It would also allow duplicates when adding components manually.
What I've just noticed is that on the project tab, under the schematic hierarchy, one of my sheets had a grey icon instead of yellow. Normally this means the sheet is not open for editing with a tab at the bottom, even though in my case it was. Double clicking the file turned its icon yellow and now I can't get duplicate names.
I've just spoken to Support and the problem has been logged.

Posted - 27 Oct 2014 : 14:05:35 I get R1, R2, R5, R6, R4, R3 etc. in a straight horizontal line, -but no "holes".

Posted - 27 Oct 2014 : 13:50:14 Just tried it (renaming from the project page) and it does rename, however there are "holes" in the numbering e.g R1,R2,R4,R5 ....
I normally don't use this method as I renumber after I have done the layout and so renumber from the pcb editor and then back-annotate.
