Is there a way to determine the number of holes on a board?

You can also add a drill table to the pcb design for all to see.
Click Add=>Drill table.

There is a table in the Design Status Report (Output, Reports, Design Status) that lists the drill holes by size. This will show you the number of each, and the total number.
