Hi All,

My EasyPC is not running when i click the icon. I get the hourglass for about 3 seconds - then nothing. A few specs first...

EasyPC 15.0.8
Windows 7 32bit
Java 7 (upgraded from 6 about a week ago)

If I run task manager - I can see EPCWin.exe running. no CPU but anything between 5 - 8 MB of ram being used. All looks normal.

I last ran the program about 2 weeks ago with no noticeable problems. The only thing I can think of is the change to Java.

I have tried the following...
* Run Setup.exe - and selected repair.
* Tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
* Tried uninstalling - removing programs folder - removing as many registry entries as I can find and then reinstalling.
* threatening behaviour.

I'm installing from a CD containing 15.0.2 and then installing 15.0.8 update. I've also tried not installing update.

Everything else (AFAIK) seems to be working fine - just EasyPC that fails to run.

Any ideas???

Tim.

One of the things that crops up repeatedly is that Vista/Win7/Win8 restrict all programs ability to create new registry entries, especially in certain areas of the registry.

The simple way to temporarily overcome this is to right click on the application and use the menu option 'Run as Administrator'. If things go wrong, it's always worth trying as a quick and dirty first attempt at resolving the problem.

This doesn't just apply to failing to run, but also functions within the program misbehaving, especially if it's the first time you've used them. It's also been the case with a few machines that patches need to be run this way or they report a missing DLL.

The good news is that it's only the creation of registry entries that's restricted, so once it's working, it tends to carry on working.

Easy-PC doesn't make any use of DirectX. At least, we don't access it directly but of course that doesn't mean that there isn't some dependency we are not aware of. Everything seems to be related to everything else on Windows!

Thanks for the responses,

I didn't try DirectX although I do have v11 installed.

Eventually, rolling back to a known good configuration of windows has got it working again. Unfortunately, I couldn't see anything that had changed that was a likely culprit.

One of those 'I'll never know' situations.

Perhaps worth noting, I do have DirectX v11 installed and EasyPC is now working. However, It is possible that DirectX got corrupted and rolling back fixed it.

Regards,

Tim

Hi Tim_Cyg,

Don't know if this is perhaps a related problem, but I too struggled for many hours, particularly with msflxgrd.ocs.

To make a long story short, I found that, in my case, my DIRECTX
was too "new". (DIRECTX 11).

After installing directx 9.0c, just to see, that immediately solved my problem.
Please read ths sticky on "Grid" related problems.
Hope this helps you...

Also worth noting :

I've tried installing the HASP driver from support/tools

Also tried running the HASPID.EXE. It returns the following...
-------------------------------------------------------
HaspID 4.0

System ID:313352911
Ethernet: 0
(A few symbols get printed on next line)
HASP key: Cannot open HASP Device Driver (-100)
-------------------------------------------------------

Not sure what is supposed to be returned here - so If someone could post what they get here - that may help.

Also tried the replacing the mfc71.dll and msflxgrd.ocx

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim
