Posted - 19 Oct 2012 : 00:25:04 I'm creating a PCB library part that requires some locating holes that are not pads. Not being able to find a way to add holes that aren't part of pads, I thought I'd add pads and make the size 0.
As soon as I do that I can no longer select these pads to move or edit them.
I've done the same thing in a PCB design in the past and was still able to select the pads so I'm assuming this is a bug.
The work-around I found is to do a "select all" and the ctrl+click every other item to unselect them. Also, if I make the pad size the same size as the hole I can select them.
Of course, the main issue is that they show up as pads in a component.
So, how should I create locating holes? Surely I'm not the first person to need this.
BTW, I also tried using Add->Cutout->Circle but nothing appeared to happen, although I expect that wouldn't show up in a drill file anyway.

It will be given a pad number but you can re-number the footprint making sure that these pads are numbered outwith the pad range of the "actual pads" ..... when mapping to a schematic symbol these pads are not used.
