Posted - 19 Sep 2012 : 00:31:42 I've seen mention on this forum of a new feature to do with panelisation that has apparently been added from V15. I just upgraded from V13 to V16 but can't find any mention of such a feature in the help.
I often need to create panels and add v-groove, routing and tooling holes etc. but the problem is always that I must hide the names from the silkscreen and manually add them back in so the component names are the same for each PCB on the panel. This is a pain as I have to be very careful to manually move these fake names whenever I move a component.
I was hoping there was a way to overcome this if panelisation was now supported by EPC.

Posted - 21 Sep 2012 : 08:37:49 We do indeed get involved. The problem you describe has been reproduced here and has now been logged for an urgent solution.
You should find that it does not happen if you check the box to use an existing technology file as the basis for the new panel design. That's the symptoms I am seeing here anyway.

I just tried using the wizard. Got to the first step and selected "2" for precision and the program crashed with: --------------------------- EPCWin --------------------------- An unrecoverable application error has occurred. The program is no longer able to continue and will terminate when OK is pressed. --------------------------- OK ---------------------------
This is repeatable if any value other than 0 is used. |

Posted - 19 Sep 2012 : 08:25:38 If you go to the Index in the Help file and look under Panel you should find an entry "Panel Overview" that describes the key points of this feature. It should take you through all the stages of adding panel items, managing layers, etc.
