Hi all,

Having updated to v14.0.3, I opened a current work in progress which has been used with dual screen support for some time prior to upgrading with no problems at all.

1) I now find that where the project, schematic and PCB designs used to open up automatically, the schematic now has to be opened manually from the project window.

2) Worst of all though is that the only menu's on the schematic screen are 'Windows' and 'Help' although the toolbars are correct for schematic use. Other menus such as on PCB side seem to be correct but I can't go back to v13 as this was an upgrade to v14 - the project window seems to have the schematic menu's but again my memory of v13 starts to fade here as well.

3) The dual screen support has also got confused and by default shows the wrong design!

4) Any one know how to tell which version of the libraries are installed ?

5) Oh yes, if I change projects EasyPC still uses the pcb design from the previous project - very confusing.

Any help or pointers to what I've missed (or messed up) will be gratefully received - before I start to panic!

Roger Burningham

Edit: Just made a test project and it behaves the same way - i.e no schematic menus for output/plotting etc

On the libraries issue, there really isn't any way to tell absolutely, though the file date can give an indication.

That's because if, say, you have a V12 library, then modify and save one item in V14, the library will still be readable by V12, except for that one item which will be in V14 format.

The format is determined right down at the level of the individual symbol or component.

Even if all the menus are missing, you can right click on the menu bar. Down at the bottom you'll find a 'Customise' option. Choose the 'Menus' tab, then just reset the menus. That will restore the missing menus. There should be no need to close the program.

You must reset in the instance of the program that's faulty. If you're in dual screen mode, doing it in the other screen won't work.

Thanks Kev,

Tried your suggestion and I seem to have got over most problems now having also spoken to Peter Johnson who was very helpfull.

Work pressure means press on regardless!

For your other problems try this.

Make a new design directory.

Copy all of the schem and PCB files into it. (just these files)

Open easy PC.

Close all opened files if this is how it starts up for you.

Make a new project save it to your newly created directory.

Add the schematics and pcb files to your new project. Save and close all.

Now when you load the new project all should be well.

Well Kev (hope thats your name),

Its a funny old world because I'm absolutely sure I tried that (and anything else that remotely hinted as resetting to a default) a little time ago but, I thought no harm in re-checking and . . . . well you can guess - its reset itself to defaults and is working OK again!

Its time to stop for a cup of tea before there's any more tears or tantrums !

Thanks again

Roger

Might have seen this too here.

If I remember correctly, fix was

Settings/customise/toolbars/Reset ALL

Hope that helps.
