Anyone got any thoughts on this latest upgrade? I cant say I am overwhelmed with the new features. Am I missing something? What do people think of them?

I agree with previous posts that added features are essentially non-features. I thought the new heirarchy would be something worthwhile so I purchased the upgrade. But alas, it is nothing more than a couple of shortcuts to schematic viewing. You can still not design a basic circuit, then replicate it, then make a change to it and expect the changes to flow to the replicas ---

If Ian's comments r/e the library structure include fixes for this problem then I am all for Ian's comments. I would like to see library components become full featured mini-pcb's so you are able to easily manage repeated blocks on schematics/pcb's. Changes to the base component/block should optionally flow to all instances of that component/block just as library components do now.

If NumberOne would add the conceptually simple capability for a library component to have traces and multiple 'sub' components, THAT would allow nice replication and re-use features.

There have been a number of users who for some considerable time have been complaining that Easy-PC doesn't have 'proper' hierarchy in projects. It was in response to those requests which have been appearing for some time.

You're quite correct in your statement that there's not a lot more functionality required by the average user, so perhaps Iain's wish might appear in V15. I'll certainly pass any user requests on.

If anyone does have ideas for other useful major improvements, we're all ears!

I just don't understand why they worked on those useless features!?!

Who on earth requested those things??

I also agree with Iain's comments regarding the library structure.

I have to agree with Iain's comment.

Agree 100% with Iain. Nothing to get excited about and improve the usefulness of the Product. Probably released just to get some "upgrade fees". Had prefered if they had made the software more stable without crashing some time. (Try added two references to a pcb symbol).
Schematic heirarchy is fine but DRC doesn't work across pages properly if the net already has more than two connections on a page. Need proper off page connections (and DRC tracking) rather than simple TO/FROM symbols which appear to do nothing. Or have I missed a trick here?

I have to say, there is nothing really in V14 that lights my fire !.
Having said that I think EasyPC is close to saturation point with regards to what is really needed to carry out PCB design. Therefore I suppose it is difficult for the programmers to fine realistic product enhancement features.
However I DO think they now should focus on the library structure. I am sorry to all that I keep banging on about this, but it has become a bit of a passion for me. The ONLY big negative for EasyPC is the library structure .... and if we can all join together and get this fact over to the programmers, then I think we can get something done about it.

Weve just upgraded to version 14. 0.1

Most stable release ever. Used in anger last week and late into the night over the weekend. Not even a hint of instability.

I didn't need any of the new facilities - cant see the point of heirarchy for a PCB- which is obviously topologically flat but found the new grids useful when I got the hang of them.

Upgrade cost is near zero when compared with competitors products.

The last update was so disappointing it only made thing worse...

so for me it is clearly NO

Have to agree .... My main concern was the new router .... see thread here
http://www.numberone.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=446

The new schematic additions may be good .... but on the whole pretty un-exciting stuff. I personally would like to have seen the library structure put right ... it really does need a major re-think and is the achilles heel of the whole tool at the moment.

Anyway, as I always upgrade, I have ordered it up .... let you all know what I think when I test it.
