Posted - 20 Mar 2009 : 21:00:32 How do I set the default layer a track is drawn on? Or do I need to select it from the short cut menu each time I start to manually draw a track?
How do i set the default track width? I see were to set track style widths, but how do I select the default style to use each time a track is manually routed?
Thanks Tim C. |

Posted - 25 Mar 2013 : 12:50:49 OK, the problem for me was that under design technology - net classes the particular track I was trying to lay was automatically given a style. That was not the stlye I wanted it to have, so I changed it and now all is well. For what I do with the program I would rather not have it automatically assign anything, except use the last track settings. Then I would change the track using the right click each time I want a different width etc.., but I see how it would be useful for other people doing more complex things. |

Posted - 22 Mar 2013 : 13:12:44 I see this is an old thread, but I am having the same problem. Every time I add a track I have to right click and change the track size and layer. Often this doesn't even work as it will then somehow change to a different track width as I am laying it. I have gone into defaults and changed it to the width that I would like, but that did not help. I'm assuming it is changing due to an association with a particular net? I would be ok with disabling all nets, since I don't use them. That does not appear to be an option either. Any suggestions? |

Posted - 25 Mar 2009 : 13:54:20 The only time that the default track width is used is in the (very rare) instance where the net class being referenced has undefined track styles.
That could be either the default net class if a new track's being added on the fly, or the net class associated with the net name if the design's been translated from a scematic. |

Posted - 23 Mar 2009 : 17:08:20 All the basic defaults for adding new items are set on the Defaults dialog (Settings, Defaults). This should allow you to set up things like track layer, pad style, etc.
However, for tracks there is a little more to it, because each net has a net class, and that net class has a default track style. That's where it will go to pick up the track style to use when you start routing. |
