If I want to have two different designs on a single board panel, is there a way to tell the program to not increment part numbers? Most of the prototype board houses allow multiple designs on one panel. One of the standard board sizes is 10cm x 10cm. So, if I have design A as 3cm x 3cm and design B as 5cm x 5cm, I can fit both designs on the same board. If I have the design A PCB open and I copy the design B PCB and paste it onto the 10cm x 10cm board, it automatically increments the silk screen numbers on design B.

Obviously design B has component numbers starting at 1 (ex: C1, R1) just like design A. The only way I can see to have correct silk screen numbers for design B is to uncheck the component name, and manually add text numbers to the components. I don't think there is any other way to do it as that would break the DRC part of the program. Is that correct? The schematic for design B is not part of the schematic for design A so a DRC shows all of the design B as being an error anyway.

Thanks David. I will try that on my next design.

In your Panel design, to go Add, PCB Design, and point to each PCB design file you want to reference from your panel.

Hi Mike, I tried this but had no luck with importing a .pcb design into a .pnl design. What format do the PCB designs need to be in to be importable into a panel?

Thanks
Kieran
