I have created a new schematic symbol and now I am trying to create a new with it. When creating a component the file browser cannot find the file for the new schematic symbol in the folder that it is filed in. But when I go into to Windows Explorer the file is in the folder.

I suspect what you may have done is saved the symbol as a separate schematic symbol (.SSY) file, whereas what you need to do is put that symbol in the library.

If you open your symbol again, you'll find a menu command 'Save To Library' on the File menu. Choose an appropriate library to put it in (preferably your own library, not one of our master libraries in case that gets overwritten during a future update).

Once the symbol is in a library, then the component editor can 'see' it.
